Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Website


The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) has obtained grant funding through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to update existing Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMP's) for Clarion University. Pre-disaster planning reduces long-term risk to people and property from natural and human-made hazards.

  • Flood Mitigation Grant Filed with DCED On July 21, 2014 Clarion University (University) filed a grant application for a Flood Mitigation grant through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) and the Pennsylvania Department of Commuity and Economic Development. The grant request is for $191,250 and will help the University to fund the dredging and overall maintenance of the West End Pond at its Venango campus. In 2008 the University undertook a major rehabilitation project to help mitigate the previous flooding of the pond onto First Street in Oil City. In order to keep the pond in good shape and hold the water it was designed to hold. the pond will have to be dredged on a regular basis. The CFA is expected to announce the grant ...
